Per a report released yesterday before the Cleveland Browns hosted the Cincinnati Bengals, there was a chance quarterback Johnny Manziel would regain the starting job after he was grounded by the team for partying and lying about it. However, in order to do so, he had to meet some “conditions.”
If I had to guess, said conditions probably looked like this:
1. Josh McCown has to be broken to the point of no return.
2. Former third-stringer Austin Davis has to be bad at quarterback.
3. The Browns have to be absolutely thrashed by Cincinnati in embarrassing fashion.
Well, hey, all of those were met! As a result, Manziel is reportedly getting the starting job back. But let’s be honest, this was hardly because he earned the trust of his coaching staff. The only reason Manziel is returning to the field is because, frankly, Cleveland didn’t have a choice.
