Well, last night was certainly a strange one for Cleveland Cavaliers fans, wasn’t it?
Early yesterday evening, ESPN’s Chris Broussard reported restricted free agent Tristan Thompson had agreed to sign a three-year, $53 million contract with the Cavs. Finally, it appeared, the last horse had crossed the line. Cleveland had its Finals roster intact, and everything would be positive come next week’s media day.
About 14 minutes later, Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal not only said no deal was struck, but the Cavs weren’t really interested in meeting Thompson’s updated demands either.
And just like that, we were back to square one. The two sides remain stuck in their staring contest just days before training camp opens up.
