The Cleveland Cavaliers winning the 2016 NBA Championship was huge for everyone involved.
It was huge for LeBron James, who set out a goal of ending the city’s painstakingly long title drought upon his return to the team. It was huge for Kyrie Irving, who was called out for not being a viable running mate for James all season long. It was huge for owner Dan Gilbert, who can finally turn off the ticking clock in his office which showed how long it had been since the city of Cleveland won a professional championship.
On top of this, last night was incredibly huge for Kevin Love. Fair or unfair, no Cavalier has endured more scrutiny since joining the team. Love needed to prove to his endless line of critics he could contribute in Cleveland’s quest for a title, and did so any way he could in Game 7.
