Coming into yesterday’s matchup between the Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos, many NFL pundits kept returning to an alarming statistic. Comparing the two quarterbacks in the game – sure-fire Hall of Famer Peyton Manning and journeyman Josh McCown – it was the latter who was having a far more impressive season.
McCown entered Sunday having thrown for 300+ yards in three straight games, a feat no Browns quarterback had ever achieved. He was also fresh off a 457 yard performance against the Baltimore Ravens. It was safe to say everyone was stunned by the kind of play Cleveland was getting from the 36-year-old, leaving many to wonder if he could keep it going against Denver.
