The MLB playoffs are officially in full swing, but the team Sports Illustrated picked to win the World Series won’t be taking part in them. Despite a spirited attempt to rally for the final AL wild card berth, the Cleveland Indians came up short of the postseason amidst a year of high expectations. As a result, the team will once again be watching the playoffs from home as it tries to regroup for next season.
There are more than a few things going for the Tribe when it comes to bouncing back next year. The rotation is still one of the best in the league, and budding superstar Francisco Lindor looks like he has a bright future ahead of him.
That said, this hardly means Cleveland can just rest its laurels on what it has, assuming the rough season can just be chalked up to some bad luck. In fact, the worst thing the Indians can do this winter is spend another offseason making minor moves because, in their mind, they just barely missed the playoffs.
