The Marist girls basketball team entered Wednesday physically depleted, having just suffered its first loss of the season to Bolingbrook the previous night.

Ward spent Tuesday morning attending the funeral of her grandfather, who had been a huge supporter of her team. Dealing with so much loss in a matter of hours, it would have been understandable for her to need more time to recover.
